Hello from my front porch. Il Divo is playing, iced coffee by my side and the Carolina sun is shining as I write to you from my favorite HHI Style rocker.
First...please forgive. I know you've been waiting to hear about the girls. It's been busy and I was waiting for a time to sit back and enjoy writing to you. Here goes...
I arrived back home Wed evening @ 10PM after driving in from Louisville. It was a good trip but emphsis on "trip"...this was not a vacation.
First, an update on Sis and the girls. Sis is doing an amazing job caring for Ruby and June. It's a non stop job....day and night without a minute to spare. She is a wonderful Momma...so tender and nurturing. Aaron is completely comfortable with the little ones...and is a really good Papa.
Ruby and June are just dear...perfect....beautiful...you get the picture. Ruby is an absolute clone of Sis. A little round head with those Schelble cheeks. She took my breath away...tears started to flow. I truly think this little one would sleep if she was standing on her head in a corner. So sweet. June is smaller...and as I was holding her...it hit me. And Sis said, "I was wondering if you'd see it"...she's baby DanaMarie. Smaller, delicate...so precious. She's taller but seems smaller. They both have Aaron's long fingers and toes.
I was there to see their first tubbie bath! Good News...we have two more waterbabies!!! They liked their baths.
How 7.5 lbs can steal your heart so quickly is quite amazing...but it happened. They are beautiful.
Also had the joy of attending DanaMarie's graduation and baby shower. At her graduation, she rec'd the award for Cardio-Thoraci Anesthesia, for Regional Anesthesia...and was also to receive the Critical Care Award...but they realized and then decided to give it to another resident. Needless to say...she has worked hard and done a great job. Graduation was held in the newly refurbished Kentucky Derby Museum at Churchill Downs. FYI...if you're in Louisville...it's wonderful. Check it out.
The next day it was on to Lexington for DanaMarie's baby shower. Pam's dear girlfriends gave her a beautiful shower...and she rec'd lots of loot! Great things...it was just lovely.
The time flew....Wed. evening pizza in Lexington with Pam and Barry. Thurs lunch in Salem, Ind. with Linda and then dinner at home with Nick and Linda. I am blessed to have the most wonderful co-parents in law on the planet. Friday to Bloomington to see Ruby, June and Sissy....then back that evening for DanaMarie's graduation in Louisville. Sat...to Lexington for the shower and then to Lake Herrington to go for a summertime boat ride. Loved that. Barry grilled burgers...and we stayed at their condo at the lake.
Up Sunday...Buckeye and Banjo in tow...and back to the 'ville. Then onto Bloomington. Did a couple night shifts with the babies...as best I could. Am still learning how Sissy does things for her girls. Things sure are different from 1975!!! No sleeping on the tummy! I am learning to be Baby Wise...that is the new approach that the girls are using. Who says you can't teach a gramma new tricks!!! I Will Learn...I promise.
Drove Louisville to Lexington for one last cup of coffee with Pam...then headed South to God's Country. 10 hrs later...I arrived just before 10PM. Needless to say...Thursday, I was nearly comatose.
Worked Friday-Monday. Tuesday Jan came over from Tybee Island. Great girlfriend time. I drove over Wed. We slipped right back into the groove that only longtime friends understand. It's like you were never apart. Shared lunch, laughs, shopping and a parking ticket! Yes, we were talking so much, we forgot to feed the meter!
Worked Thursday....and then home Friday to start the great "dig out!" Bills are paid and laundry done...tomorrow is church and beach day! Hallelujah!
Hope this finds you well and enjoying a wonderful summer. All is well.
Much love, Sue. RN,BWG (Baby Wise Gram, in training.)
PS...Sis asked me not to post pics of the babies. She will do pics on a website and then I'll send you the password.
All for now...........xoxox
