 8/31/07 We've got tickets!

Talked with Playhouse Square today. We've got Babe tickets! I am so excited... We are in row D & E in the Mezzanine. I am sorry that we couldn't get on the floor. The only ones left down there were scattered about here and there. We have 8 in each row, one in front of the other. They are sending them to me down here.

Shirley, and a few others have mentioned that it would be fun to do dinner before the show. Will work on that...I'll keep you posted as we go along.

It was a rainy day on HHI. Mitzi and Opal went to the beauty parlor. Opal must have gotten a snoot full of water during her bath. When I picked up the girls, she rattled like someone in failure. Took her across the hall to their vet. She assessed her and found that her lungs were clear, but she had a bunch of water in her upper airway. She is still hacking and snorting! She's now on an antibiotic and an ace inhibitor. Poor little Ops...she as sweet as can be. I won't be going back to that groomer!

Am watching Larry King. Can it really be 10 years since Diana's death. She once said, "Two things stand like stone. Kindness in anothers trouble, and courage in your own."

Take care...Good Night.
Love, Sue

 8?30/07 Mitzi and Opal...

Just got in from a M&O walk. Wanted you to know...they are doing great! They have scouted out the area and have their little routine down pat. Opal at 14y/o has a spring in her step and trots along like she hasn't in a long time. And of course, Mitzi runs the show! Their little bed is right by two large patio doors that are windows... Just outside the door...what else...a sign that says..."Beware Of Dogs!"

In the evening, they love "couch time", which consists of them sleeping on the other end of the couch while I watch Larry and Anderson. We all should be able to sleep like those two! Just thought you'd like to know.

It was a good day at TFM. I was busy! busy...busy!!! Love that! And had a surprise... took a call...it was Pastor Roy! ordering 44 roses for his 44th anniversary. He picked them up and was pleasantly surprised. That was fun.

Am off tomorrow...a good day to get things caught up at 401...then to the beach with my new book. No plans for the weekend...and actually, that sounds good since I'll be driving to Langley next week.

No new news about Aaron's upcoming departure to the Middle East. Will let you know as soon as I hear anything.

It's a quiet evening with a light sprinkle outside. A little rain would be good. Hopefully, it's stopped raining in Ohio...CNN covered what you got.

It won't be long and I'll be packing my bags to come to Ohio. Til then...take care,
Much love, S.

 8/29/07 Paris Island Steak...

The day flew. TFM 7 a.m. til noon...ran errands...changed for dinner...4:30 p.m. hop in the car with Elwood and Naomi. We drove to Paris Island the US Marine Corps base just outside of Beaufort. There is a restaurant on base open to the public. Wed. is steak night at Traditions. Certainly an appropriate name considering the military's love of ceremony and tradition. It's interesting. In what I was told was formerly an "O" club...we went thru a line...chose between Ribeye...Filet...or NY strip. The meat is right there...RAW! They ask what size and you tell them how many ounces you want.

Hmmmmmmmmmm... The dining room was overlooking a lovely waterview. I walked around to look at the pictures and various USMC items displayed around the room. My bill for salad bar, soup, 8oz. NY Strip, baked potato, lemon chiffon cake, diet coke and coffee...$15.54! Wow! It would have definitely been alot more on HHI!

We did get to see some of the base as we drove to dinner. It certainly wasn't the very best steak dinner I've had...but the experience and company was wonderful.

Watched Anderson Cooper's coverage of the 2 year anniversary of Katrina. It was very disturbing.

Stay safe...
Love, Sue

 8/28/07 Quiet Strength...

A good day at TFM. Did my "usual thing" in the floral dept...then got to go out and beat the pavement in an old but familiar role. We are doing a fundraiser next week at TFM to benefit juvenile diabetes. Took the little green shoes that people sign and then get posted up on the window....Made my way down the little strip of shops...$120.00 and 4 bouquest of balloons donated later. It was kind of fun.
However, if you're ever at my strip...don't eat at _______(can I say the name?)...he wouldn't give me any $$$.

Ever the night owl, fortunately, I saw Coach Tony Dungy on Leno a couple of weeks ago. He talked about his new book...Quiet Strength. Popped over to Barnesy's tonight and bought it. In no time, I realized that this is an outstanding book that more than read...I'll study.

Settling in with a good cup of coffee and a good book.
Good night from 401...
Love, Sue

8/27/07 Can you guess my call sign?

A productive day at 401. Laundry...cleaning...bills...done!

Talked with both girls today. DanaMarie is working hard. Her news is that little Buckeye, their black and tan cavalier, needs surgery. His little knee goes out. . They'll go in and screw /staple the ligaments to tighten things up. Poor little thing. He is sooooooo sweet. It will be hardest on his tenderhearted, protective Papa. Brian is the ultimate protective dad. I can only imagine when they have kids!

Sis and Aaron are doing well. The deployment is still set for 9/6 at 9 Zulu...which I am told is 3 in the afternoon. Gotta love the US Military. However, they are very excited. They put in a bid on a lake front lot and it was accepted. It's an acre on Lake Monroe, near Bloomington, In. They are thrilled and the timing couldn't be better. How wonderful for them to be excited about something in the future. They can plan their dream house together. I am thrilled for them. They will be only an hour and a half from DanaMarie and Brian.

Both girls are talking about me moving............Perish the Thought!

Off to The Fresh Market at 0700...
All for now from from Camp 401.

Over and Out..
