12/07/07 oh dear...ever have one of those nights?

Oops...fell asleep on the couch ...related to no sleep the night before. Up and going this morning. Neighbor over for a cup of caffiene...and plumber here working on the "loo" downstairs. The diagnosis...I have roots! Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm, wonder just what that will entail???

In the meantime, something else is on my mind. You see, when I inquired about the choir...I thought I would just go to practice for a few years...and then, if the pipes still produced a sound that was not offensive...then see what happened. Well, it seems I have ended up with the praise team, on the stage, next to the choir director's wife (who is adorable and can sing her heart out), with the microphone between the two of us! Oh dear...
I'm scared! Please pray I don't mess up and sound ... . Will practice today and tomorrow. Am hoping that this is like so many of the fashion shows...looks really bad...and then comes together at the last minute!

Will let you know.

Back to the "loo"...not looking good. The big machine to clean out the roots is $150/hr...and the plumber is $90/hr. Do you have any idea what great shoes I could get in "loo" of this?

Have a great day.............
Love from HHI ...Sue

 12/05/07 Wed.

Sorry I missed writing yesterday.

It was a full day at TFM...then home to change and head to the Hawthorne Inn. The inn is an assisted care facility here on the island. One of the gals in the choir at Grace works there and asked if I'd come and join in the Christmas caroling. Of course I said yes...and it was a great experience. I rode up in the elevator with a resident. She smiled and walked with the assistance of a cane. Much to my surprise...I learned (when she sat on Santa's lap for a holiday picture), her name is Nel and she'll be 100 years old in a week! It was great. Then as we were singing, this gentleman in a wheelchair moved over to the piano and joined in. It was Mr. Thomas. He told me he used to sing in the choir at his home church in Trenton, NJ for years. He'll be 98 y/o in a couple of weeks. It was a delight to chat with him.

Today was nuts at the store...then the single moms dinner this evening followed by choir practice. The Christmas Concert is Sunday and it's crunch time...practice again tomorrow night and also Saturday morning.

The holidays are in full swing...so
Merry Christmas!
Love, Sue

 12/03/07 Mitzi and Opal...

...loved the beach! It was a pretty day...perfect for a beachwalk. Took the girls with me. They LOVED it! Instead of their usual shenanigans...they were well behaved and walked as if they had graduated from obeidience school. Who knows what goes on in the minds of M&O?

Since I haven't found a good kickboxing class...got some Tae Bo tapes and started them. It's an Advil night!
Then spent time doing some Christmas shopping. Found some things that I'm really excited about for the kids. That's such a blessing...and something that I haven't felt since 2005. It's wonderful to once again be excited about being Santa and finding that special gift for the kids on Christmas morning.

Take care and have a good day.
Love, Sue

 12/02/07 wonderful...

As difficult as Thursday was...I just didn't feel well...Friday was wonderful. Flew out of Savannah at 6 a.m....to CAK at 10:30...had a great lunch with Roxie...popped out to Richfield to be with Eileen and Nancy. Soooooooooooooooooo fun...............just like so many times in the past. Loved it! Out to Copley to Cindy and Tom's. That is always a great time...then in the morning to Akron to help Eileen Benson plan an upcoming special event. The time flew...in for 30 hours and back on a plane. Short...but Oh, so sweet! There's definitely something to be said for short hops! Wouldn't want to do it that way everytime...but there are certain advantages.

Suddenly, it's Sunday...and time to head off to church. This evening was a special time. They hosted an Elegant Evening at Grace. Hors d' oeuvres...desserts...and beverages were served...followed by a time of fun and praise led by the praise team. Little ones were everywhere...Grandmas and Grandpas...Moms and Dads. Fun and fellowship aplenty...and guess who was the "lady dancing" in the 12 days of Christmas? You guessed it...I could have died!

Hope all is well there and that the storm didn't hit to hard. Please keep me posted.
Much love...Sue

 11/28/07 the storm...

This morning, it would have been so easy to stay in bed and just pull the covers over my head. However, I could hear Elisabeth saying, "Do The Next Thing." So................you know, (I'm sure you do), that feeling when you sort of grab yourself by the back of the neck and give yourself a good "yank" and say..."Get Going!" ??? Well, that's exactly what happened. My feet hit the floor and by the time I was at work...I knew it was a good thing that I was at TFM.

Work went well and the creativity was flowing. Then lunch with a girlfriend from church, followed by getting things together for the moms this evening. Then off to Grace... The single mom's dinner went well. The gals are starting to share more with me. Choir practice followed. Once home...chatted with A&B&DM. They are doing well.

After dreading November...I am so very thankful to be at this point. Now, here is another lesson I've learned...the "storm" doesn't last forever. It may be devastating...but whether it's a tsunami...or a tremendous personal loss...God doesn't let the storm last forever. While we'll always remember the storm and it's memory will be with us forever...eventually, the clouds begin to clear...and life begins to move forward. And while it's tempting...we are not called to "the couch"...we are called to help and serve. The amazing thing is that in "the doing"...as we help others...we are healing.

Thank you for your calls and prayers.
Much love and many thanks...Sue
