 11/27/07 thank you...

Even with a new computer...words are difficult...(yes, Nellie bit the dust...and I have a new hp with Vista as of yesterday).

What can I say...?

I'm so thankful for time with the girls over Thanksgiving...and staying busy with work is a good thing. Still, the disbelief and a wide range of emotions come.

When I thought about starting the blog again and my entry tonight... I thought...what do I say? Then like the healing balm that you have been...and the comfort that has blessed the our family over the past two years...I thought of you. Thank you for each act of kindness and the faithful prayers that have blessed us more than we even know. Thank you for help beyond measure.
Love always, Sue

 11/21/07 tea in Ashville

The Fresh Market was "out of shopping carts" crazy busy today. You know you're in trouble when people are standing and waiting for someone to leave so they can get a cart. One lady said her cart had been taken...and it was full of food!!!

Tossed a few things in the car...picked up a copy of Tuesday's With Morrie audio book and headed north. Traffic was moving along just fine. Stopped for the night at a Hampton Inn...a bubble bath and a cup of tea are a nice treat after a busy day. Another 300 miles and I'll be with the girls and the Settles family for Thanksgiving Dinner. We will be missing Bruce. He's staying home in Columbus to take good care of his pug. As he calls him...his "special child"... Cuz is home, on meds and seems to be doing OK. "We'll miss ya, honey!"

Thanksgiving is such a wonderful holiday. I certainly have learned the benefits of gratitude. You see, whenever I am grateful and say thank you...it always makes me mindful of just who I am thanking.

May all your turkeys be tender, your gravy be lumpless and your blessings abundant. God Bless You and Yours. I'm thankful for you.
Much love, Sue

11/20/07 "Storm Will Cause Travel Nightmares"

That was posted as one of the lead articles on AOL tonight. The storm plus record numbers of anticipated travelers caused me to reconsider flying to Louisville. So, have decided to drive. Will work in the morning and then hit the road.

Will take Nellie with me and blog along the way. Give me a call tomorrow afternoon and evening. I'll appreciate the company.
Take care and please say a prayer as I travel to see the kids.

Much love, Sue

 11/19/07 fascinating...

Since this is my first Thanksgiving in the grocery business...I must say, it's fascinating. You can't possibly imagine the palettes of food that continue to roll in...I've never seen so many pumpkin pies and turkeys. We also do prepared Thanksgiving Dinners. You just order, pick up and heat up your turkey dinner. Those have been so popular...they aren't taking any more orders.

In the midst of all this...the flowers are beautiful and a plenty. Just today I cut 444 dozen roses....and that doesn't includes the other varieties of posies.

Apparently, all this will fly out of the doors tomorrow and Wed. Will let you know.

It doesn't seem possible that I just got back from Ohio two weeks ago tonight...and will be packing tomorrow night to fly to Louisville. To quote Sis..."isn't it amazing what lengths we Americans will go to and how far we'll travel, just to sit around and eat a lot of food!!!"

Have a great day tomorrow and at all costs...
Stay away from the grocery store.
Love always, Sue

 11/18/07 thankful...

Yesterday was interesting. Got things done here at 401. For the first time, I used a cleaning service for the carpets that utilizes the dry cleaning method. That was unpleasant. I grabbed Mitzi and Opal and ran for the door as I was experiencing a paroxysm of coughing and headed for respiratory distress. Where's Ken from Acorn Rug and Carpet Cleaning when I need him?

Just one of the many wonderful people that helped me over the years. Sherri, Ken, guys at RC Norman....just to name a few! What a wonderful bunch.

Now, I need a plumber. Tried to fix the powder room "loo" myself. After the nastiest chemical I could find didn't work...I bought an auger! Armed with my $8.00 potty auger...I was certain that I'd get things flowing freely again. Not so...Darn!...I hate that when it happens. Now I'm forced to call in a plumber that will charge me 5x what my co-pay is at the pharmacy.
Crazy!

Dinner last evening with a friend and church this morning. Two very good things. Will finish out the weekend working here at 401. I have much to be thankful for...and I am.

Have a blessed day.
Love always, Sue
