 10/07/07 a great interview...

Started the day at Grace CC. Choir practice followed by church...then took one of the single moms and her 2 y/o son out for a little after church lunch. It was a good start at getting to know one of the gals in the single moms group.

A quick shopping trip and home to continue working on 401. That went well.

Probably the best surprise of the day was...I caught a great interview on "60 Minutes." They did a long segment interviewing Bruce Springsteen. Because of my friend David Nemer, I have become a fan. They asked him..."you're worth over $100,000,000.00...why are you still working...and doing some of your best work at age 58?" He replied..."why not? this is what I do..." It was great! So glad I caught it.

Talked with A,B and D. All is well...the girls will get in on Wed.
Have a great week........
Much love, Sue

 10/06/07 Design on a Dime...

I needed a place for doing paperwork. Until now, I've been using the coffee table once a month. Paying bills is a pain in the neck as it is...and hovering over the coffee table didn't improve the process or my attitude.

So, remembering an episode from HGTV...off I trot to Staples in search of a table. Found it! It's 2x4 and came to a whopping $39.99 !
That's significantly better than the one at Haverty's for $549.99. I already had a chair in the bedroom that would work, so that wasn't a problem.

Once home, the size worked great! It fit right under a window that was draped with white sheers pulled back with gold cord tie-backs. I draped it by first using a large rectangular white table cloth...tucked the excess under. Next, covered the table cloth with an extra white sheer window panel that I had leftover. Hmmmmmmmmm, moving in the right direction. And topped it off with a "mauve-ey pink" velvety couch throw that has long silky fringe, ...slung on at an angle! Now we're cookin' Had a shoe box that has black stiletos on it and says "Couture" in large black letters...that now serves to hold files on one end...and a black basket on the other end with a picture of the girls, balances things just fine. Topped it off with a fancy little black clock and what else...my pink rhinestone stapler, tape holder and pc mouse! "Viola!" Now we'll see if my mood is any better at the end of the month when I pay bills!

Hope all is well on your end.
Have you got any projects going?
Good night from 401,
Love, Sue

 10/05/07 rockers arrive...

Rocking chairs are a familiar sight down here. They are scattered about the waiting areas in the airports, hospitals, and outside of restaurants and shopping areas. No surprise...it's a wonderful ways to relax. So decided it would be a nice addition to 401 to have a couple of them on my little deck facing the lagoon.

Today, two white (of course:) rockers arrived and have a nice new home. My first rocking guest...Elwood! He came by to sit a spell! This 80 y/o former construction crew "Boss" is really a softie at heart. He and his wife have been wonderful as I've made this transition to Harbourmaster.

The rest of the day...very ordinary. Tonight, Mitzi and Opal are enjoying time on the couch with Momma. They love "couch time." We're staying up to watch Nightline and see Jennifer's fiance, Amir.

Good night from 401.
Love, Sue

10/04/07 Thursday "Doing the next thing..."

Met a gal that's a member of Zonta. I'd never heard of the organization before...but it's an international organization dedicated to advancing the status of women thru advocacy and service. She invited me to attend the luncheon with her. It seemed like a nice group of ladies and I was impressed with their projects. Just a couple of them are ...raising funding for a childrens center and putting together care kits to give to women when they come into the local ER for rape evaluation. Membership is by invitation only...we'll see what happens.

Wed. evening...helped with the dinner for the single moms and their kids. The local newspaper came to cover the ministry. I chatted with the young gal that was assigned to the story. When I asked her where she went to school...much to my surprise...she said, "Samford" ...Wow!!! That's where Chelsea is going to school. I asked her if she was in Step/Sing...she said yes and smiled.

From the single moms to choir practice. The director works so hard to teach us the music. The hour there seems to fly by.

Tomorrow is a new day...
You are in my heart and prayers...Love, Sue
