 8/02/07 Minneapolis

As I was writing the blog last night, I was watching CNN. I fell asleep watching Anderson Cooper's coverage of the tragic event in Minnesota.

My heart was breaking for those dear people...and on some level, I felt like I understood what they were feeling. All of a sudden, something that they thought would always be there, something that they trusted everyday, collapsed...was gone, and the aftermath was devastating. I know you're praying for them, too.

I am reminded of a conversation that I had with Janney while I was home. We were talking about the importance of not missing the
"gift of today"...and what a waste of time it is to worry about the future. Those dear people could have sat and pondered for absolutely ever and never dreamed that a falling bridge would claim their life. I remember saying..."to miss the gift of today because we are worrying about something that "might" happen...when if fact that rarely occurs...would be utter foolishness and a waste of the gift." Then... Phil. 4:8 comes to mind...and gratitude comes to comfort.

Thankful for you...Love, Sue

7/31/07 the rest of the story...

Didn't realize just how severe the storm was last night until I heard the news this morning. Not only did we have a tremendous amount of heavy rain, stalled out cars and accidents...a 22 y/o male was struck by lightning on South Beach in Sea Pines. Sadly, he died later at Hilton Head Hospital. The gal he was with was seriously injured but is doing OK at this time.

Worked 7-4 today. Dinner this evening with Harbourmaster friends. Getting back in the groove after being OOT!

Heard from DanaMarie...the residency is going well in Louisville.

Tomorrow...Work...Clean at home...and Mitzi and Opal will get a bath.
They need it...The ladies are a bit stinkie! Time for their beauty treatment. Fortunately...(or unfortunately, I'm not sure)...I've realized that I can do just as good a job bathing them as the groomer.

That's it for today...good night!

 7/30/07 not a pretty sight!!!

No matter how you slice it...3:30 a.m. is just UGLY! And it doesn't help that Janney is sweeping the floor, paying bills and finding that hour of the day as "inspiring!" Trust me...it's not even remotely inspired
Clutching my coffee...I didn't wake up til Charlotte!

Back on the island...the sun was shining and it was lovely.

Bible Study and RAIN! were on the agenda tonight...the "raining-so-hard-it's-raining-sideways" kind of rain!

It's The Fresh Market for me in the morning.
Off to ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZland!
Sleep well.
Love, Sue

 7/29/07 Kearstin and Chris!!!

A short but very sweet weekend! Popped into Akron to attend the engagement party honoring Kearstin and Chris. It was a wonderful party and a wonderful time! Cindy and Tom did a great job celebrating the kids and their upcoming wedding in Oct. '08. What a great way to kick off the wedding festivities for a wonderful young couple.

Topped it off today with a fun outting to look for wedding gowns. Boy...did that bring back memories.

I was looking forward to the evening and wanted the fun of surprising Kearstin and Chris...and Cindy and Tom. Didn't want to say anything to give it away...hence, I didn't blog or even answer Lynne's email! It was so worth it...just a great time.

Now, to get up at 3:30 a.m. and head to CAK by 4. That will not be pretty...but the weekend was so worth it!

Time to sleep fast.........Love, Sue

 7/26/07 Rained...and then some!

It was a nice day at work...then home. These hours have worked out so well...Tues 7-4p..Wed 7-12n...Thurs 7-4p.m. Really enjoy what I do...what I also know is that I like to be busy. When things start to get caught up...I get bored! That's not good! (So now the place is shiny clean... That's a good thing!)

I was out with the girls and noticed a large black cloud...I'm not kidding...in 5 minutes it was raining like I'd never seen. It came down so hard...In absolute sheets. Visibility was zip!

Dinner with Elwood and Naomi was a delight! We went to Bonefish. That was kind of funny...we're down here and going to a seafood chain restaurant. Didn't matter...it was delicious. We had a great time...and I learned a ton. Elwood said that 70% of the units here at Harbourmaster are permanent residents like I am. That's a very good thing. Also, the city fathers are discouraging people from coming! He said they are really tough to get a building permit. That...more gator stories...and time spent talking about our kids rounded out the evening.

Time to check out Larry King and Anderson Cooper 360!
Good night from a well watered 401.
Love, Sue
