Finished week one, today...it was a good day.
As I was standing at the bedside with a patient, couldn't help but think...I was so thankful for my experience in Cleveland. It's been incredibly valuable. Then, in the midst of things, I had a patient get a really very bad report. Knowing it was coming, I was quietly watching both the man and his wife. She got up...walked away...(knew what was coming)... glanced at the other nurse, to watch my patient...and went to be with the wife. Interestingly...the reading and seminars that I've been to...as well as my personal experience equiped me to be with her at that particular moment.
Amazing how it all gets woven together. I stand amazed... and quietly understand that without the work and without the scars, I wouldn't have had the insight to do what was needed.
Please keep them in your prayers.
A thankful lady........
After reading through your 'grief book' from the workshop, I'm sure you will be using elements of it on a daily basis, even with those that aren't getting fatal reports. Your compassion towards your fellow man will be the thing that sets you apart from so many of your coworkers. My prayers will continue for you as you keep doing the next thing.
